Transfer Platform

A transfer platform is a unique way of adapting a staircase to help those who have a straight stairlift ascend their curved staircase. The reason someone with a curved staircase might have a straight stairlift is that it's cheaper to purchase a straight stairlift, particularly if the curve in the stairs is only at the top, leaving a few stairs to climb round a corner. People can save literally thousands of pounds by opting for a straight stairlift in this situation, but they will always have issues with getting off of their stairlift and going up those last few stairs.

Some people would prefer to have two straight stairlifts on their staircase, as it still saves money over the cost of a curved stairlift. If someone has a curved staircase with an equal amount of stairs either side of the curve then they are able to install two straight stairlifts. The reason for this is that someone can ride half way up the staircase on one stairlift and transfer to another to ascend all the way up to the top. Doing this however, requires a stairlift in itself, which is exactly what Oakland Stairlifts install when cases such as these pop up and need installing.

Correctly using a transfer platform is something which only stairlift suppliers and manufacturers are aware of how to do, as they need to be installed in a certain position relative to the stairlift. If this position is wrong then someone could easily fall and hurt themselves whilst they try to climb up the stairs or across them using the platform. Some people think they can measure up their stairs and install their own transfer platform, but this isn't the case, and in fact they need to leave this job to the professionals to avoid causing a serious accident.
